# Prospect Dossier: Ernie Magalotti, Total Reliance Logistics (formerly EFW Tradeshow)

**Built for:** Ripple Technologies (AI HTS Classifier)
**Call:** Monday 24 August 2026, 2:00 PM EDT (7:00 PM London), with Adrian Smith
**Compiled:** 21 August 2026 from public sources, his LinkedIn profile and the full LinkedIn thread

## TL;DR

**What changed this month.** The outreach went to Ernie as Senior Vice President of Trade Shows at Estes Forwarding Worldwide (EFW), a 1,000 person licensed customs broker. His LinkedIn profile, pulled 21 August, shows that role ended in August 2026 and that he has been President of Total Reliance Logistics (TRL), a woman owned freight brokerage in Reading, Pennsylvania (LinkedIn band 11 to 50, 8 listed), since August 2026. His 8 August post: "Grateful for where I've been, proud of what I've accomplished, and excited for what comes next. Onward." The TRL company page has posted under his name since 7 August. EFW's site still listed him at the time of writing; his own profile is the current source.

**The invite went to his old employer's mailbox.** The call was booked with ernie.magalotti@efwnow.com. That mailbox still accepts mail (verified 21 August) but he has not confirmed the invite and he replied on LinkedIn, not email. TRL publishes trl@totalreliancelogistics.com and 484-388-4090 on LinkedIn; its website was down (hosting suspended) on 21 August. First action: message him on LinkedIn, note the move, ask which email he wants the invite on, re-send.

**Who EFW is.** Forwarding arm of Estes Express Lines (5.8 billion dollars plus, number 8 on TT Top 100 2025). Licensed US customs broker, NVOCC, C-TPAT, IATA. 29 facilities, 20 cities, 20,000 plus customers, 1,000 plus staff on its own site. Bought Legacy Logistics (Ernie's company, March 2023) and Superior Brokerage Services (a Minneapolis customs brokerage, September 2023; CEO said it doubled revenue and put EFW "within striking distance of 1 billion dollars"). Hiring Customs Entry Writers in August 2026 (Saint Paul and remote, CargoWise named). New President Lance Harcrow named 7 August 2026, founder Scott Fisher to Vice Chairman.

**The honest picture:** the company in the outreach data is a strong fit and the person who replied no longer works there. Monday is a conversation with a freshly independent freight operator who knows EFW's customs operation from the inside and whose new business has no customs work of its own. The value is an introduction into EFW's customs desk and intelligence about it, plus a referral channel through TRL's shippers. Not a deployment.

**Against the qualification criteria:** TRL's type and size sit outside the company gate, and he no longer holds a role at the company that does qualify. This is an introduction and intelligence call. Decide before dialling whether that is worth 30 minutes this week.

---

## His reply, verbatim

> "Adrian - I am not sure how your platform will help when you say batch entries; however I would be open for a conversation. I am out of town until next week so let's schedule a call sometime next week. My schedule is open on Monday anytime after 2PM til 5 PM or Wednesday 9AM-11:00 AM. Thanks Ernie"

From where he now sits, that reaction is simply accurate. The message was written for EFW's customs desk.

## The conversation so far (verbatim)

Outbound, LinkedIn (HeyReach), from Adrian Smith's account, campaign Ripple-Tariff-LinkedIn-Adrian-14-Aug-2026.

**20 August 2026, 12:32 UTC, Adrian:**
> Ernie, thanks for connecting.
>
> We built an AI that does the line-by-line duty work in minutes at 99.8 percent accuracy, so the same desk clears a lot more entries without hiring.
>
> Pentagon Freight Services runs 1,000 lines through us in 15 minutes and now handles more clients with the same team.
>
> Want to see it on a batch of your own entries? On us.

**20 August 2026, 20:37 UTC, Ernie:**
> Adrian - I am not sure how your platform will help when you say batch entries; however I would be open for a conversation. I am out of town until next week so let's schedule a call sometime next week. My schedule is open on Monday anytime after 2PM til 5 PM or Wednesday 9AM-11:00 AM. Thanks Ernie

**21 August 2026, 06:12 UTC, Adrian's account:**
> Hey Ernie, I booked the call for 2 PM ET on Monday, the 24th. I used this email address to book it: ernie.magalotti@efwnow.com. Let me know if it's showing up on your calendar, and please confirm.

Booking: HTS Fit-Check Call, Monday 24 August 2026, 2:00 PM EDT (7:00 PM London, 1:00 AM Tuesday Bangkok). Invite to ernie.magalotti@efwnow.com. Not confirmed by Ernie at the time of writing.

**What he is expecting:** a conversation, not a demo. He asked what "batch entries" means before agreeing to talk. We picked Monday 2 PM inside the window he offered.

## The numbers

**Verified or named source**
- Ernie: EFW Mar 2023 to Aug 2026; TRL President from Aug 2026; Legacy 2000 to 2023 (LinkedIn).
- TRL: 11 to 50 band, 8 listed, 1,148 followers (LinkedIn).
- EFW: 501 to 1,000 band, 534 listed; 1,000 plus on site; 29 facilities; 20,000 plus customers; USDOT 2352258 / MC 801982.
- Parent: 5.8 billion dollars plus, number 8 TT Top 100 2025.
- ernie.magalotti@efwnow.com: valid, accepting mail, 21 August 2026.

**Estimated or unknown**
- EFW revenue: "near 1 billion" (CEO, 2023). Third-party 222.7 million (Growjo) and 244.9 million (ZoomInfo/RocketReach) contradict it; do not quote.
- EFW headcount 344 to 1,000 plus by counter. EFW ocean shipments 7,861 or 47,216 by record.
- TRL revenue, customers, import exposure: unknown. Why he left EFW: unknown.

**The signal that matters:** how many entries a year EFW's brokerage files and who owns that desk under the new President. Ernie cannot sign for it but can say it and can introduce. Secondary: how many of TRL's shippers import and who clears for them.

---

## Pain signals and gaps

1. **The company in the outreach data is not the company he works for.** EFW role ended Aug 2026; TRL President from Aug 2026; farewell post 8 Aug. Invite sits in his EFW mailbox. Resolve the email first.
2. **EFW's customs desk is real, busy and hiring, and he knows it from the inside.** Licensed broker, SBS deal, entry writer postings with CargoWise. The Classifier lets that desk clear more entries per writer. The route now runs through an introduction.
3. **TRL's shippers may import, and a freight broker sees the downstream mess.** Held containers, late releases, surprise duty. A referral channel, one question.
4. **Exhibit freight that does not come home, if he still touches it.** 26 years in trade shows; temporary imports that convert to dutiable entries when goods are sold or damaged. Only matters if TRL carries trade show work across a border.
5. **A leadership change at EFW in the same month he left.** Harcrow President 7 Aug; Ernie's farewell 8 Aug. Budget owners may have moved. Ernie can say who to talk to.

## Where the Classifier adds value
- EFW's brokerage desk, through an introduction: the first pass off the entry writers, same desk clears more entries without the next hire (the Pentagon mechanism). Every entry invoiced.
- A read on EFW from someone who just left: integration state, system, how stretched, who owns customs now, how open they would be.
- TRL's importing customers, as a referral channel: small, indirect, one question.
- Exhibit freight, if it follows him: defensible code in minutes for one-off conversions.
- Leaving the door open: a one-pager he can forward, and the standing "batch on us" offer for anyone he points at.

## Questions for the call

**Arc one: where he is now**
1. (Open with this) Congratulations on Total Reliance, I saw the move on LinkedIn. Before anything else, tell me what TRL does and what you are building there, because the message you got was written for the customs desk at EFW and I want to talk about the right business.
2. Of the shippers you are moving freight for, how many import, and who clears for them today? Do you ever get pulled in when a container is held or a duty bill surprises them?
3. After 26 years in exhibit logistics, is any of that coming with you to TRL, and does any of it cross into Canada or further? What happens to the goods that do not come home after a show?

**Arc two: EFW from the inside**
4. (The decider) EFW has entry writer roles open and just named Lance Harcrow President. Who runs the customs brokerage side today, and would you be comfortable making an introduction, or is that awkward given how recently you left?
5. From what you saw, how did the Superior Brokerage integration land on the customs side? Is the desk keeping up, and what system are they on?
6. If you were still there and a vendor said the same desk could clear a lot more entries without hiring, what would have made you take it seriously, and what would have made you ignore it?

**Arc three: keeping the door open**
7. Thirty years in freight in the Reading and Philadelphia area, you know a lot of brokers and shippers. Who do you know who is drowning in classification work, and would it be useful if I sent you a one-pager you could forward?
8. The offer in the original message stands for anyone you point at: a batch of their real entries, classified, on us. Is there anyone you would want to see that done for?

---

## Watch-outs
- **Sort the email before anything else.** Message him on LinkedIn, note the move, ask which address he wants the invite on, re-send. No answer = expect a no-show, not disinterest.
- **Do not run this as the EFW pitch.** Open with the move, ask what TRL does, let EFW come up as something he knows rather than owns.
- **Against the qualification criteria, be clear-eyed.** TRL is outside the company gate; he no longer holds a role at EFW. This is an introduction and intelligence call. Decide before dialling whether it is worth 30 minutes.
- **Three things not to say out loud:** why he left (unknown); EFW revenue or entry volume (no reliable figure); that the pitch was a mistake (it was written for the right company on data a month out of date; say so plainly if it comes up).

- EFW: subsidiary of Estes Express Lines; HQ Richmond VA; founded 2003; privately held. Key people: Scott Fisher (founder, CEO, now Vice Chairman), Lance Harcrow (President, 7 Aug 2026), Paul Goff (EVP, ex-SBS). LinkedIn band 501 to 1,000 (534 listed). Facilities list as above. Certifications as above. Manifest 2026 sponsor.
- Customs page quote as above. EFW Tradeshow page: US and cross-border to Canada; on-site at every major event; no carnet mention.
- M&A: Legacy (Mar 2023), SBS (Sept 2023). 20,000 plus customers. Parent expansion to 14,000 plus dock doors by end 2026.
- Trade data: Panjiva IDs 5494795, 179546087, 37863851; ImportYeti 35 (Saint Paul MN address).
- Gaps at the time: Apify/HarvestAPI actor blocked (monthly cap). Resolved afterwards via HarvestAPI direct, which produced the experience table above and the TRL finding.

### Analyst (numbers)
- Revenue estimates LOW: ZoomInfo/RocketReach 244.9M, Growjo 222.7M; inconsistent with CEO's near-1B. Parent 5.8B plus, TT Top 100 number 8.
- Ownership: Estes Express Lines, no PE, no listing. Acquisitions: SBS (closed Nov 2023, doubled revenue, 750 to 1,100 plus staff), Legacy (Mar 2023). None after 2023.
- Headcount counters: Revelio 727 (Dec 2025), SignalHire 344, ZoomInfo 515; EFW site 1,000 plus.
- Footprint: 7M plus sq ft, 29 facilities, 20 cities. Open roles: Customs Entry Writer, multiple postings, CargoWise, 24 to 32.50 dollars an hour.
- Registry: USDOT 2352258, MC 801982; SAFER blocked (403); licensed customs broker; NVOCC/OFF; C-TPAT, IATA, IAC, SmartWay.
- Trade data: Panjiva 167894589 (7,861 shipments, recent as 20 Aug 2026); Panjiva 172631178 / ImportGenius (47,216 BOLs, 12,427 shipments); EFW as forwarder of record.
- Customs desk people on LinkedIn: Jay Walick LCB, Nichole Johnson, Robert Carpenter, Christopher Timpson, Rudy Balli. Tech: CargoWise in postings; parent uses Descartes (do not conflate).

### Strategist (synthesis, before the LinkedIn pull)
- Gaps: pitch did not fit his freight; EFW runs a real customs desk separate from his; trade show freight runs on temporary import mechanics; manual read flagged the mismatch; he is a decision maker for the wrong budget.
- One thing to know: his skepticism is accurate; open by asking what happens when exhibit goods do not go home; evidence cuts against the easy version (no confirmed customs volume in his division).
- Superseded by the LinkedIn pull: he is no longer at EFW at all.

### HarvestAPI direct pull (21 Aug 2026)
- Profile: experience, education, about, posts as tabulated above. TRL company page: 11 to 50 band, 8 listed, Reading PA, woman owned freight brokerage, contact as above. EFW company page: 501 to 1,000 band, 534 listed, 8,620 followers.
- ernie.magalotti@efwnow.com verified deliverable (MillionVerifier, result ok, 21 Aug).
- totalreliancelogistics.com: hosting "account suspended" page. efwnow.com/leadership/: 404 at time of check.

## How to use this file with Claude

Paste this whole file into a Claude session and ask for any of the following:
- "Draft the LinkedIn message to Ernie that notes his move to TRL and asks which email to send the invite to."
- "Give me a 60 second opening for this call that starts with his move and does not pitch."
- "Roleplay Ernie as a freight broker president who just left EFW. Push back on why he should introduce me."
- "Write the one-pager he could forward to whoever runs customs at EFW."
